Augmentative and Alternative Communication

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Devices and tools help children communicate when they are unable to do so on their own. There are a number of reasons why children may need an AAC Device either temporarily or permanently:

4) Neurological disorder

5) Other speech or oral motor disorders

There are many different types of communication devices ranging from low tech picture cards / PECS to special computers. In fact, if your child is unable to use the touchscreen, speech generating devices (SGDs) offer flexible access options including:

1) Eye-gaze

2) Head tracking

3) Joystick and alternative mouse control

4) Single and multiple switch control
